For 90 Years St. Saviour High School
has educated the young women of Brooklyn. As a Catholic
institution we seek to go beyond the academics and our educational
mission has always been directed to the development of total person.
Campus ministry provides opportunities that support, challenge, and
nourish, both the students and the faculty, in their on-going faith
formation and spiritual development.
Our faith community, here at St.
Saviour High School, participates in regularly scheduled liturgies,
penance services and prayer experiences. Father Murphy, pastor of
St. Saviour Parish, is a welcome presence in our school and the presider
at school liturgies. Students, plan, conduct
and assist the work of campus ministry as lectors, extraordinary
ministers of Holy Communion (seniors only), altar services, leaders of
prayers, campus ministry representatives and outreach coordinators.
An important component of the spiritual
life of the students is our retreat program. In September freshmen
begin their St. Saviour experience with in-house retreat. During
sophomore and junior year students have a one day retreat at nearby
spiritual formation centers. As seniours the girls have the option
of a three day/two night retreat in upstate New York or a one day
retreat at a local retreat house.
Campus ministry hopes to create an
atmosphere where students can come to know their God-given gifts and
mature in their spiritual life. They are challenged not just to
learn their faith but to live it. We expect that each student will
then give of their time, treasure and talent in service to others.

During October we collected construction paper,
washable markers, glue sticks, cotton balls and Q-Tips for the Early
Childhood Program from The Guild for Exceptional Children. Over
300 pre-school children attend the various programs for children with
special needs at the early childhood center in Boro Park. Brittany
Delaney organized the collection and she and I brought three large
boxes of supplies to them.
