Still Walking After 90 Years

By Chyan Hunte

This year the freshmen started their walks of Saviour pride, the sophomores and juniors continued theirs, and the seniors ended theirs in sadness and enjoyment.

Walk-a-thon, being the first major school event of the year, is one in which the students of our school look forward to. We look forward to walk-a-thon because we make memories, whether it’s by talking, laughing, or just having a good time.

However, at the same time, we dread walking two very, very long laps around the park. But I guess that’s why they call it walk-a-thon!

Friendly Competition

By Natalie Musumeci

I think the students of St. Saviour would agree with me when I say that practicing for Song Contest truly kicks off the school year. Every morning in homeroom you could hear the Funky Frosh, the Rock and Roll Sophs, the Under the Sea Juniors, and the Save Our Seniors chantingt heir Song Contest songs throughout the hallways. Usually the freshman never heard of a thing called Song Contest, but when the practicing begins, the true competition starts.

The dance, song, and banner committees for each grade rush to make deadline so no points are deducted by Ms. Draghi. In my opinion, we wouldn’t even have a Song Contest if it wasn’t for our very own Ms. Draghi. She and Mr. Huie our “song and dance man” work hard every year in order to put our show together. We all know this year that the seniors took 1st place again at their last Song Contest. Senior leader, Amanda Magnavita says, “Even though the juniors were solid competition, I had a lot of confidence in my girls because they worked hard.”

All the grades worked hard this year. On the nights of Song contest the true St. Saviour spirit comes out in the girls. You can truly feel the school spirit that’s hardly felt during the regular school days. Glitter and props are all around and big group pictures are being taken. The Song Contest cheerleaders and Varsity Cheerleaders are practicing their moves in the halls and everyone has this nervous feeling inside them.

Our school is smaller than other schools, therefore we may not have as many events as other schools, but we have Song Contest which is the one event that all the girls of St. Saviour look forward to every year.
