MSA SEEKS A BETTER SSHS

Our candidacy for Middle States Accreditation is progressing nicely, thanks to all those who participated in the Middle States surveys.  All our students, faculty and staff  completed surveys and one hundred forty-eight parents completed surveys.  Middle States said a good response to the parent surveys would be 30%; we had almost 60% of our parents respond and we thank you. We were particularly happy to see that almost 100% of our parents would recommend Saint Saviour to others.

We are grateful to all those who took the time to complete surveys. A ‘big’ thank you is given to all our students who took their surveys so maturely and seriously. The faculty and staff surveys were the most tedious to complete with over one hundred and sixty questions.  They carefully answered each response. Your time, concern and attentiveness give evidence of your loving commitment to Saint Saviour High School.

At the December planning team meeting we began to process the information obtained from the surveys.  We looked at results of the survey responses in relation to each of the twelve standards for accreditation. In doing so some of our strengths and weaknesses were revealed.  In January the planning team looked at all the survey comments.

Be assured that all your responses and comments will be given serious consideration as we set our MSA goals.

On Friday, February 5th we met with our Middle States liaison, Mr. Al Albrizio.  Sister Valeria also was present at this meeting.  Having gathered our data from the surveys and foundational documents we were interested in getting Mr. Albrizio’s input on our progress. We also wanted his guidance with the next steps in the accreditation process, that is, setting our goals. We are grateful to Mr. Albrizio for making the trip to Park Slope, his first time here. He liked our little section of Brooklyn and we certainly appreciate all his help and support.

We were really right on schedule with a MSA faculty meeting scheduled for February 10th, but then snow came. With school closed, our faculty meeting was cancelled. At the March meeting the faculty will use the data we have gathered to discuss possible goals. Then it’s back to the planning team who will make the final decisions on our MSA goals.

We’ll continue to keep you posted.  Again many thanks for all you have done. We appreciate the commitment of the planning team, the dedication of the faculty and staff and your continued support as we continue the Middle States Accreditation process. It is an inspiring testimony to all that Saint Saviour High School means to all of us.
