Student Life
Students at SSHS are able to participate in a wide variety of clubs and organizations that include Student Council, drama, stage crew, art, gospel choir, music ensemble, foreign language (French, Spanish, Gaelic), history, literary magazine, school newspaper, yearbook, Anime, campus ministry, Root’s N Shoots, and chess. Opportunities are abound for voluntary work outside of school as well. Students are also afforded the opportunity to travel abroad each year.
Our sports program includes varsity and junior varsity basketball, boosters (step-team), cheerleading, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.
In addition to strong academic programs, our traditions and social activities throughout the year allow students to become part of a community and to develop friendships that remain with them well after graduation. While the religious identity of Saint Saviour is Roman Catholic, we welcome students of all ethnic and religious backgrounds. Our students come to us from all over Brooklyn as well as parts of Manhattan , Queens and Staten Island . Almost 25% have attended public middle schools.
Saint Saviour, located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn at 588 Sixth Street , lies between 8th Avenue and Prospect Park West ( 9th Ave. ) and is easily accessible by subway (F, G, R, 2, 3, 4 trains) and by bus (B-61, B-67, B-69).
