Inner Glow—Guest Speaker, Ms. Natasha Howard

April 28, 2016

On Wednesday, April 27, Ms. Natasha Howard, mother of senior, Kayla Simmons, was invited by the Inner Glow Club to be their guest speaker. Ms. Howard is an officer with the Department of Corrections, assigned to Rikers Island. It was clear from her presentation, that she loves ther work and the many responsibilites that she has. She has been trained and is very qualified in law enforcement. Stories were shared on how difficult it is for young people who become incarcerated, but with right care and guidance, the people in charge can make and do make a difference in the lives of these young people. Education and self-discipline are strongly emphasized in order for these young people to be better prepared for life outside of prison. We thank Ms. Howard for sharing her many experiences in law enforcement with our students.
