Physical Education
Required for all Freshmen

Students will be introduced to various different physical activities. They will be taught the importance of stretching before exercise through many different yoga poses. They will explore and apply exercise concepts designed to elicit desirable neuromuscular adaptions. They should be able at the end of their freshmen year to expand upon the benefits and drawbacks of exercise and training for adolescents.

Physical Education
Required for all Sophomores

This course includes a review of the basic skills introduced in the first year of Physical Education. This course will also include historical, socio-cultural and philosophical perspectives to identify issues, challenges and resources that influence lifelong participation in a physically active lifestyle. We will also explore different dance styles and show their positive effect on our cardiovascular system.

Physical Education
Required for all Juniors

For Junior year we will continue with stretching and exercise. We will continue with various physical activities and make sure at this point that all the rules of the different physical activities and games are fully understood. Each student should be prepared to orally explain the different rules and penalties of each game we participate in physical education throughout the year. Methods to best promote participation in physical activity as well as professionalism will be considered.

Physical Education
Required for all Seniors

Students must participate in physical education and must be able to pass on some knowledge to others. Methods used throughout high school years should be used throughout their lifetime. These students are now encouraged to take the tools they have learned in Physical Education and bring it out with them into everyday life. They are encouraged to promote physical activity for years to come.

Health
Required for all Freshmen

Our primary purpose in this course is to teach the importance of healthy living in our daily lives.  This course will use lectures, films, readings and projects to explain different methods used to promote good health. Students must learn to live a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. They are all intertwined and affect one another. Topics include everyday situations which teenagers are confronted with and important decisions they will make which will affect them for the rest of their lives.
